I’ve stayed in the Missoni hotel a couple of times, but never got around to trying out the food at their Seafood restaurant, Ondine. Today I decided to give them a go.

Although part of the Missoni, Ondine is found next door to the hotel, which is located near the picturesque Grassmarket and the old Castle. Ondine consists of a bar area and a main restaurant. As I was dining on my own, I decided to sit by the bar.

Ondine specializes in the seafood dishes and Edinburgh’s location the  ingredients are very fresh indeed (there are non-seafood alternatives for those not interested in seafood).

When I visited Ondine I tried the following dishes:

The service at Ondine is good (although I did visit them during a very quiet hour, so difficult to tell what it’s like during more busy periods).  The dishes I tried were all tasty and well prepared, but none were mind-blowing.

The total bill at Ondine came to £70 (incl. optional service charge and a glass of wine), which it too high in my opinion.
