Apsleys: A Heinz Beck Restaurant on Urbanspoon

Apsleys delivers yet again. First of all, many have already commented on the impressive dining room and it has to be said this is one of the most romantic dining rooms in the world. It is well worth it to arrive a bit early to have a wonder around the the beautiful Lanesborough hotel halls and bar area (the hotel that the restaurant is situated in).

This time my fiancee  and I tried the 7 course  Apsleys tasting menu with wine pairing. All dishes were a success and some were divine. Highlights were the foie gras, seabass with mango, the halibut with vinaigrette, the (sumptuous) tortellini and the duck breast.

Often I find that the amuse bouche(s) and desserts at Michelin restaurants outshine the main dishes. This is not the case at Apsleys. Not that the starters and desserts are bad (very good actually), but in the case of Apsleys the main dishes are simply delish!

The service was good and the wines accompanied the food splendidly (particularly the Sauvignon Blanc, Barbaresco and the Valpolocella were amazing).

Let’s be clear, Apsleys is the best up-scale Italian restaurant in London…time for them to be awarded a second Michelin star (I can easily name several two star restaurants that are not of the same level as Apsleys).

In terms of costs expect to pay about £150pp for the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings at Apsleys.

Overall rating of Apsleys: 9/10
